ELIGIBILITY:      Entry into the tournament is by invitation only.  The field will be filled with the top 20 boys and top 10 girls from North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia based on rankings as of November 1st.  Contestants must be enrolled in high/middle school and no older than 18 at the time of the tournament. Entries were sent to the top 50 ranked boys and top 25 ranked girls in each state based on rankings on October 1st.  Rankings were determined as follows for each state:

                                The field will be determined after the entry deadline by the highest ranked players in each state.  Should you be ranked 21st in your state boys ranking on November 1st, your entry would be accepted if any one of the top 20 players in your state did not enter the event, and so on.

 

                               Entry fee of $210.00 and completed entry deadline is Wednesday, November 30, 2011. 

Entry fees received from players not accepted into the field will be returned after the deadline.

 

FORMAT:           The tournament will be conducted over 36 holes of individual stroke play.

                               A team competition between the states will also be conducted using a combination of boys/girls scores each day.  Details of this friendly competition will be announced during the tournament.

                               In the event of inclement weather, the tournament committee’s decision on play will be final.

CADDIES:            Players/caddies are required to walk at all times.  Caddies are permitted and encouraged for all contestants.  The player is responsible for the conduct of his/her caddie.  Spectator golf carts will be available for rent each day.  Shuttle carts will be available for players/caddies on some holes due to the distance between the green and next tee.  Caddies are not limited by age, however, parents are not allowed to caddie for their child.  A limited number of Augusta National Golf Club caddies are available for the event.  Contact the golf shop.

TEE TIMES/

SCORING:           The event will use Live Scoring through the National Junior Golf Scoreboard.  Players will be asked to give his/her score to tournament volunteers after every three-hole sequence. Family, friends, and golf fans not attending the event can follow the action as it unfolds by going to www.njgs.com.   Tee times and other information relating to the event can be found also on the website.

 

LODGING:         Special rates are available at three locations.  Locations are 9 - 16 miles from the golf course.

                               A limited number of Mt. Vintage residents have agreed to provide accommodations in their homes for our players and parents during the tournament.  Please email our Tournament Director, Brad Covar, if you have a desire to be a guest of our most gracious Mt. Vintage residents.

REFUNDS:          A full refund will be granted if notice is given on or before January 2, 2012.  No refund after that date.

 

RANKINGS:       The Tarheel Youth Golf Association has assigned a rating of 6 for the event.  The SCJGA has assigned a rating of 5 for the event. The event will meet the conditions to be included as a Golfweek/Titleist Performance Index event.  The event is included in the Performance Based Entry (PBE) system of the American Junior Golf Association.  The boy’s champion will be awarded 12 performance stars, a Top 5 finish gets 8 stars, and Top 10 gets 4 stars.  The girl’s champion will be awarded 8 performance stars, a Top 3 finish gets 4 stars, and Top 5 gets 1 star.

 

 AWARDS:           The overall champion and runner-up of the boys and girls competition will receive trophies.   The overall team champions will receive the coveted “bragging rights” for having the best overall junior golf program for 2011 (players were selected based on 2011 rankings).  USGA guidelines will be used to break all ties except tournament champions in each division. 

 

PRACTICE

ROUND:               After acceptance into the field, you may contact the golf shop at Mt. Vintage and schedule a practice round anytime prior to the tournament.  The staff will do its best to accommodate you with your one complimentary practice round.  Carts are available for licensed drivers and parents may play for a discounted rate depending on the day of the week.  Remember that the tournament will be contested over the Chester and Vintage nines at Mt. Vintage when making practice plans.  Range privileges are included in the entry fee.  Players are reminded of the “one-ball-hit-into-the-green rule” during the practice round.  Violation of this rule may result in disqualification prior to the event.

 

DRESS CODE:    Each participant in this event is a “seasoned veteran” of the junior golf circuit. Mt. Vintage Plantation expects each player and spectator to wear proper golf course attire while on the premises.  Conduct unbecoming to any player will not be tolerated.  Your starter on day one will remind you of the high expectations placed on our players.
