The top boys and girls junior golfers from South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia will converge on Mount Vintage Plantation Golf Club in North Augusta, South Carolina on January 16th and 17th for the 3rd Annual Carolinas-Georgia Junior Championship. In addition to crowning individual champions, the juniors will be representing their respective states in a team competition.

The boy’s division is loaded with top players from each of the states. South Carolina will be led by the 2010 SCJGA
player of the year and newly crowned champion of the prestigious AJGA Polo Classic, Cody Proveaux of Leesville.
Joining him will be the current South Carolina junior champion and recent Clemson signee, Steven Behr, of Florence.
Rounding out the SC team will be 18 of the top 21 players based on the current SCJGA rankings.

The Georgia boy’s team will be led by twin brothers, Sam and Sepp Straka of Valdosta, both recent signees with the University of Georgia. Joining them will be Cody Shafer of Evans and Zach Jaworski of Alpharetta. Shafer has signed a letter of intent to play for current national champion Augusta State University. The team includes 6 of the top 10 finishers in the 2010 Georgia Junior Championship and 18 of the top 30 players from the current NJGS rankings.

The North Carolina boy’s team will be led by 2010 North Carolina player of the year and last month’s champion of the
Charles Tilghman Junior, Davis Womble of High Point. Womble will be joined by the current NC Junior champion, Carter
Page of Waynesville, and the Joe Cheves Invitational champion, Wilson Day of Raleigh, a recent signee with North Carolina
State. In all, 20 of the top 30 juniors in NC will compete in the tournament.

The girl’s division will showcase North Carolina player of the year Sarah Bae from Cary and two- time Beth Daniel player of the year from South Carolina, McKenzie Talbert of North Augusta. The Georgia girls will be led by Emily Kurey of Alpharetta, a runner-up in the 2010 Georgia state junior. Expect a challenge for the individual title to come from recent Wake Forest signee, Allison Emrey of Charlotte and Ole Miss signee, Taelor Rubin of Raleigh.
